Advertisement for the post of Director, DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-COE), IIT Hyderabad.

DRDO has signed an MoU with IIT Hyderabad for setting up DRDO Industry Academia - Centre of Excellence IIT Hyderabad (DIA-COE, IITH), for collaborative directed research under the identified research areas. DRDO and IITH have jointly decided the following research verticals:

1. Ultra- High Temperature Materials for hypersonic vehicles
2. Artificial Intelligence for Missile and missile defence
3. Technologies for Space application
4. Adaptive Imaging and Image Processing 5. Nanoomithocopter Technologies
5. Seeker and Homing Technologies 7. Additive Manufacturing

The search-cum-selection committee is looking for a suitable person for the post of Director, DIA-COE IITH will be the administrative and executive head and would be responsible for the smooth functioning of DIA-COE, IITH.

Essential Qualifications:

a) Serving or retired Professor / Scientist in pay level 14 or equivalent in any government R&D organization plus 10 years of experience in relevant field(s).

or

b) Serving or retired Professor/Scientist in pay level 15 or above in any government R&D organization with experience in relevant field(s).

c) Professor or Scientist in pay level 14 or above having at least 5 years of experience out of which at least 2 years of experience in heading any government R&D laboratory or government recognized R&D laboratory working in relevant field(s).

Desirable Qualification:

The person should have a wide-ranging experience and required track record for carrying out research, collaborative projects, setting up of large research facilities, strategic research planning and technology transfer. The candidate should have demonstrated research experience in one or more areas related to the verticals: high temperature materials, artificial intelligence, space technologies, missile technologies, additive manufacturing or related systems in terms of research and technology development or guidance of Ph.D. students with strong record of publication in reputed journals and conferences, patents, laboratory/course development and/or other recognized relevant professional activities.

Age: The age of the applicant should preferably be below 62 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications of this advertisement.

Remuneration: Director DIA-COE carries the scale of Professor/Technologist/Scientist (Level 14/14A/15 or above in Govt. of India 'Gol) with minimum basic pay of 1,44,200/ Other allowances are also admissible as per Gol norms. In case a person drawing salary in higher pay scale or retired from higher grade is selected, the pay will be protected as per Gol rules. For retired persons, the pension (excluding the ignorable portion of pension, if any) admissible on relevant date shall be deducted from his/her pay in accordance with the policy of the Gol.

Additional Facilities: Accommodation, medical benefits or any other facilities will be provided by IITH as per the Gol rules based on the availability of accommodation.

Duration: Full-time position wherein the initial appointment would be for a period of 3 years. This period can be extended by the competent authority for an additional 2 years subject to performance review.
